Fall Line- The Fall line is the dramatic drop in elevation that separates the Piedmont region and the Coastal Plain. It is marked by waterfalls, rapids, and whitewater. Okefenokee Swamp- The Okefenokee Swamp is in southern Georgia. It is on the right on the border of Georgia and Florida. It is a 438,000 acre, peat filled wetland. It is the largest "blackwater" swamp in the U.S. Blackwater means still, like the water's not moving. Appalachian Mountains- The Appalachian Mountains come through the northern part of Georgia. The mountain chain stretches from Alabama to Maine. Chattahoochee River- The Chattahoochee River creates part of Georgia's western border. It flows southeastward from the Blue ridge Mountains towards Florida. in Florida it is known as Apalachicola. Savannah River- The Savannah River is one of the longest waterways in Georgia. It forms most of the border between Georgia and South Carolina. There is a harbor that ships goods around the world. Barrier Islands- The Barrier islands protect the coast from waves tides, and major storms such as hurricanes, and tropical storms. The islands include Cumberland Island, Golden Isles of Georgia, Jekyll Island, Little St. Simons Island, Little Tybee Island, Ossabaw Island, Sapelo Island, Skidaway Island, St. Catherine's Island, St. Simons Island, Tybee Island, and Wassaw Island.
